Lawside Romania Project A Dream Come True

First time I heard about Lawside Romania Project it was in 1994 when I was just a little 13 year old child put up in the Budimex Hospital for treatments and many complex surgeries made for correcting a major congenital malformation. After many years of suffering and pain and hopes, my parents got the darkest news from my doctors - they let them know that there is nothing to be done for me and the best way is to get home and let God decide my future or let me come to His Garden.
With tears in their eyes my parents saw all those years of dreams and hopes for a better future vanish within a blink of an eye.
The repercussions of this incredible news were not far and in a short period of time I saw my beloved mother fall in the long and dark arms of an incredible disease called Paranoid Schizophrenia, letting my father to fight alone to take care of me.

Life became so hard to us that we thought God had turned His back
and forgot us. But one day I met Mr. Traian Despa and he lit up a new hope in our hearts. After my parents presented to him my medical
background he said that my case will be sent to Lawside Romania staff. My medical status report was sent further to London so the doctors there could offer a second opinion. The English medical staff gave us the news we all hoped to get. In a very short while I was flying to UK to fulfill my dream, that of becoming a normal and healthy child. After just 3 months I arrived back to my family in Romania. The first time they saw me back they were astonished by the wonderful changes. No wonder, considering that I weighted 12 kg on
my departure and my current weight upon arrival in Romania was
22 kg and in perfect shape medically speaking.

I was so lucky because after I was back Lawside Romania Project...

...took care not only of my health condition but they even employed a teacher to help me recover the years of school in which I couldn't attend a single day. In a very short while I was able to recover my lack of school and to be elected as head-boy in my school. The years of pain and suffering paid their tribute and I was more than glad to join Lawside Romania Project and become a volunteer. Helping children who are suffering and seeing smiles on their faces is a true blessing.
